International AIDS Conference

From July 29 to August 2, the Quebec AIDS Foundation will be visible at the 24th conference of the International Aids Society (IAS; www.aids2022.org) will be held in Montreal.  The 4th conference was also held in Montreal in 1989.

Montreal is an important research center in Canada. The studies conducted on HIV and other sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBIs) are a source of significant scientific discoveries.

The community action that is happening in the metropolis is also appealing to the IAS. Not only does the community sector provides a service to the vulnerable, but it also conducts research concerning measures or programs applied individually and collectively. The holding of the congress will be an opportunity to promote Montreal expertise in research, health and services to the population. The Coalition of Quebec Community Organizations against AIDS (COCQ-SIDA) will be an important player on this international scene which will be deployed in Montreal this summer. An HIV visibility committee made up of the Quebec AIDS Foundation, member organizations and the COCQ-Sida has been in place since October 2021 to take advantage of this platform to put HIV and its cause back in the news, following the COVID-19 pandemic.
