History

Ron Farha

The Farha Foundation was created in 1992 by Ron Farha, a Montreal businessman, following his diagnosis of AIDS, which gave him the determination to found an organization offering financial, medical and emotional support to all people living with HIV in Quebec.

The legacy of the Foundation Farha

The Foundation made a name for itself by organizing “Ça marche”, a walk in the heart of Montreal to raise funds for the fight against HIV/AIDS, as well as for prevention and public awareness.

The Foundation Farha has raised and distributed over $10 million to 76 HIV organizations in Quebec since its inception. It also means thousands of participants every year in “Ça marche” fund-raising events held in the streets of Montreal.

After more than 25 years of activity on behalf of people living with HIV/AIDS in Quebec, Evelyn Farha passed away on January 18, 2018 at the age of 92, leaving the Quebec AIDS Foundation with the responsibility of continuing the fight against HIV/AIDS on behalf of the Farha family.

In fact, since April 1, 2017, the Farha Foundation has been grouped under the Fondation Québécoise du Sida.
